Support

For people who are building applications with Net::Z3950, support is available on a variety of levels.

• Don't forget to check the Frequently Asked Questions in case the problem you've run into is one that someone else has already solved. In particular, there's guidance on using Net::Z3950 under MS-Windows.

• Informal support is available directly from the author (that's me!) on <mike@perl.z3950.org> but since ``you get what you pay for'' and I'm doing it for free, there are of course no guarantees!

• In general a better option is to join the Net::Z3950 mailing list at www.indexdata.dk/mailman/listinfo/net-z3950 and discuss in that forum any problems you may encounter. I read this list, so I will see your messages; but you may get better help from others who have run into similar difficulties.

• I've started to maintain an informal register of known issues, which I thought I may as well make public as not. Issues listed here are more likely to get attention ahead of those which are not, but it all depends which way the wind is blowing.

• For those who require it, it's possible to buy professional, commercial support for this module, with well-defined support levels and response times, from Index Data, in collaboration with whom I wrote this module.

  How can I say this tactfully? If your problem is one which, to solve, would require me to do fairly major work on the module, then I am more likely to find the time if you have a support contract :-)
